The method I use is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) which views the central problem in distressed relationships as the loss of secure emotional connection. Partners are helped to understand and control negative patterns they have with each other so they can create loving, secure bonds with each other.
EFT has been recognized by the American Psychological Association as an empirically proven form of couple therapy. Studies have shown that, regardless of the degree of relationship distress, 70 to 75 percent of couples who go through EFT recover from distress and experience satisfaction and happiness in their relationships.
